Compression garments after buttock surgery: check the fit and purpose
A postoperative garment is part of an individual care plan, not a competition to tolerate the tightest fit. Ask your surgeon what the garment is intended to do and how it should fit your operation. Another person’s size, brand or wearing schedule is not your prescription.

Clarify what has actually been prescribed
Ask whether the garment is intended for support, swelling management or another specific purpose in your care. Identify which operated areas it should cover and which areas must avoid pressure or friction under your instructions. ASPS advises patients to ask their surgeon about garments and duration. Do not infer that a product sold for a Brazilian butt lift is appropriate for a different operation.
Request a fit and skin check
Explain digging edges, rubbing over an incision, numbness, skin changes or difficulty breathing or moving comfortably. Ask the team to assess the fit rather than ordering progressively smaller garments. Do not add padding, tighten fastenings or alter the garment unless the treating team has explained the change. A photograph of someone else’s flat swelling does not establish that their pressure level is appropriate.

Agree who changes the plan
Ask what to do if the garment becomes intolerable, the swelling pattern changes or a wound problem appears. Obtain an individual plan for review rather than copying a fixed number of weeks or abruptly modifying care because of an online debate. New breathing difficulty or severe symptoms needs urgent assessment, not a fit experiment. This guide recommends no brand, pressure setting, padding technique or wearing timetable.
