Changing surgical wound after a butt lift: contact the team
A surgical wound that opens, becomes increasingly painful or develops concerning drainage needs clinical advice. Do not rely on a forum photograph to decide that the change is normal. Contact the operating team promptly, and use urgent or emergency care when symptoms are severe or you feel acutely unwell.

Describe the change and your general condition
Tell the team when the wound changed, whether the area feels hotter or more swollen and whether there is new bleeding, drainage, fever or worsening pain. Explain any difficulty following the original dressing instructions. A useful report describes what is happening without trying to name the complication. Keep relevant procedure details available, but do not delay obtaining care while assembling a perfect record.

Follow the existing wound plan, not a new home technique
Ask the surgical team how you should protect the site while awaiting assessment and whether you need to be seen in person. Do not close an opening with household glue, remove stitches, drain a swelling or apply someone else’s antibiotic. An online account of successful home care cannot establish what is safe for your incision or whether deeper tissue needs examination.
Do not let follow-up logistics delay urgent care
If the operating team cannot be reached, seek an appropriate local clinical assessment rather than waiting until the next scheduled visit. Severe bleeding, breathing difficulty, collapse or rapidly worsening illness requires emergency care. Ask the reviewing clinician how records will be shared with the original surgeon. This guide does not diagnose infection, judge a wound from an image or provide a dressing, drainage or medication protocol.
