Practical questions
Butt lift scars: discuss placement and healing history
A surgical lift involves a trade-off between the intended contour change and scars. If you have a history of raised or troublesome scars, discuss it before scheduling, not only after the incision has healed.
General information for adults. Not a substitute for medical assessment.

Ask about your operation, not a generic scar photo
Ask the surgeon to explain where incisions are proposed and how they relate to the technique under discussion. A photograph from fat transfer or a different lift may not show the scars relevant to your plan. Describe clothing, work and activities that matter to you so the trade-offs are clear. You can ask to see examples with an explanation of their timing and limitations, but another patient’s photograph cannot predict your own healing.
Share previous scar problems
Tell the surgeon about previous raised, itchy, painful or widened scars and where they occurred. Bring photographs if helpful and mention any treatment that was tried. Ask whether this history changes suitability, incision planning or follow-up. Do not start scar injections, strong topical products or a device based on a forum routine. Scar prevention and treatment need to be matched to the wound, stage of healing and the clinician’s assessment rather than a one-size-fits-all product list.
Understand what fading does not mean
ASPS notes that scars can mature over a long period and some visible scarring remains. Ask how the team will distinguish expected healing from a wound concern, when to return and whom to contact between visits. Increasing redness, drainage, worsening pain or an opening wound need advice from the surgical team rather than waiting for a cosmetic scar appointment. A promise that every scar will disappear, stay hidden in all clothing or heal like an edited photograph is not realistic.

Common questions
Can a lift be guaranteed scar-free?
No. Ask for an honest explanation of the incision trade-offs.
Should a previous keloid be mentioned?
Yes. Describe prior scar problems so the surgeon can assess their relevance.
Can I apply a forum scar routine to a fresh wound?
No. Follow the surgical team’s wound instructions and ask before adding products.

Questions before arranging an appointment?
Enquire about the next steps and availability. An enquiry does not confirm a booking or diagnosis and is not an emergency service.
