Nicotine and buttock surgery: discuss healing before booking
Smoking, vaping and nicotine use belong in the assessment before elective buttock surgery. Do not conceal use to keep a date or assume that changing the delivery method answers the surgical question. Ask the operating and anaesthetic teams how your history affects the plan and what support is appropriate.

Report the actual exposure
Explain what you use, how often and when you last used it, including products that are not cigarettes. Mention previous difficulties stopping and any prescribed cessation support. ASPS identifies smoking and nicotine as concerns for healing around plastic surgery. A truthful history helps the team assess the decision; it is not a moral test or a reason to guess at the answer they want.
Ask what clearance requires
Ask the surgeon what must be addressed before surgery, whether a review or testing is needed and who decides that it is appropriate to proceed. Instructions can depend on the operation and health history. Do not substitute an online abstinence interval for the team’s written plan or assume a negative test resolves every surgical risk. Tell the team promptly if your circumstances change.
Coordinate support rather than self-prescribing
If stopping is difficult, ask for appropriate clinical support and discuss any proposed nicotine-replacement or other treatment with the surgical team. Do not stop an existing prescribed medicine or start a substitute solely to satisfy an appointment checklist. Postponing an elective operation can remain an option. This article does not supply a cessation regimen, a safe-use threshold or a date on which surgery becomes risk-free.
